The Trades Campus of the Chamber of Crafts Trier, Germany, is a vocational and further training centre with a good 11,000 m² TFA. It comprises classrooms, a canteen and event space along with a great variety of specialised workshops. The latter range from hair dressing to dental technology, joinery, welding, electrical installation, vehicle mechanics, and many more.
Accommodating the strongly differing demands in terms of ventilation, differing internal heat gains and special requirements of these very diverse areas put a real challenge to the design team. In this interesting talk, Wolfgang Hasper will elaborate on the challenges encountered and explain how the design team managed to overcome them.
